President & Sister Dester |
But we had another day! And we went up to SPS again for some
matters of business, but we got to work in the afternoon. Lucia is still
nowhere to be found, we think the earth swallowed her. We'll keep looking until
we can find her again. She doesn't have a phone so we can't call her.
But a we heard a pastor tonight asking his congregation why
Christ hasn't come yet. The great answer is: now is not yet the time. I love
the logic on that one.
And I threw some rocks for the first time at angry dogs, so
that was exciting. Hna Artica was a little scared (she doesn't really like
animals and barking dogs are not her favorite thing) and grabbed my arm as we
were walking, but we were able to fend them off, no bites or anything.
We were also on the phone in the street, so we sat on a rock
on the side of the road to rest for a bit, and I saw this one guy saunter out
of his house with just his shorts and flip-flops on, slowly walk over to the
pulperia next door to his house, go over to the little ledge, kick off his
flip-flops and sit himself on the ledge, all comfy, looking at us the entire
time. We sat there sort of eyeballing each other for about 3 minutes while Hna
Artica was talking on the phone, then he scooted off the balcony, put his
flip-flops back on, and sauntered back to his house. He then came back out
about 4 minutes later without his flip-flops to go to the same pulperia and I
think he bought something. And then went back to his house. Ha saber. We just
have some interesting people here sometimes.
And our last visit we went to the family of the 1st
Counselor in our ward, and we walked into a balloon party! So that was a fun
way to end the night. They have 4 kids: 2 daughters of about 7 and 5 years, and
2 little boy twins of about 2 years. So Hna Artica helped make balloon animals
and whatnot and I drew faces on the round balloons and played "Don't let
it touch the ground" and sword fighting with the twins. It was awesome!
And then we helped Hna Karen make the flour tortillas and we all had baleadas
for dinner. It was a really good night.
